Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) looks at how our thoughts and beliefs affect our emotions and behavior. Many of us have a tendency to think negatively or inaccurately about ourselves and others.
CBT helps us learn to modify thought patterns to lessen self-criticism and strengthen neutral and/or positive thoughts about our lives, ourselves, and other people, so that we can cope with challenging situations in a more effective way.
CBT can be a helpful tool in treating depression and anxiety, and for anyone wanting to learn how to better manage stress in his/her life. This is a type of therapy that is problem-focused and goal-directed, requiring homework or practice outside of sessions.
