Life Transitions Counseling & Therapy
Learn to Cope with Change and Truly Transform Your Life

If there is one constant in life, it’s change.
Whether you’re just starting out, getting married, beginning a new career, relocating, or having a child …
Or you have the career you once dreamed of, a partner you love, and the children and family you hoped, but feel like an impostor in your own life …
Or you’re at the other end of the spectrum, your children are heading off to college, you’re considering going back to school yourself, or you’re retiring and unsure of what you want to do with the time you have left …
Any kind of change – even change we plan for, expect, and desire – can be anxiety provoking and scary.
Change forces us to leave our comfort zones; to question our priorities and assumptions about who we are and what we want most from our relationships and our lives.
And then there are painful, unforeseen changes – such as divorce, a major illness, being laid off, or the death of someone we love – that can leave us floundering as we attempt to pick up the pieces and move forward on new terms.
Given all of this, it’s probably no big surprise that a LOT of clients come to me looking for help with navigating life transitions and change.
Fortunately, counseling and psychotherapy can help!
Why Counseling and Therapy for Life Transitions?
Major life transitions can leave us feeling vulnerable and lost as we’re forced to reevaluate long-held thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and beliefs – whether those behaviors have been helping us or not.
The good news is that this means life transitions are also an ideal opportunity to learn more about yourself and what you want out of life.
This is what counseling and therapy are all about: discovering who you really are and creating the positive, lasting change you desire and deserve!
Of course, you could just try and “tough it out” and hope things work themselves out on their own, eventually.
Or you can talk things through with family members and friends …
But if your goal is to do more than just “make it through” – if you want to not just survive, but thrive and create positive, lasting change in your relationships and your life – then you need to create the time and space to objectively explore who you are and what you need to feel truly happy and fulfilled.
I know. I’ve been there.
I’ve been through more transitions than I can count – from one relationship to the next, from one country to the next, from one career to the next. I’ve hit “rock bottom” and felt so unfulfilled and disillusioned that there was little else I could do but cry for days.
I’ve also pulled through and come out the other side feeling happier and more fulfilled than I imagined possible.
And lest you think change is easier when you’re young, I didn’t really find my calling and become a mental health therapist until later in life. If I can go back to school for the umpteenth time, start a new career, and create a life I love relatively late in life, then it’s truly never too late for you to do the same and create whatever change it is you seek!
All of this is why I specialize in providing life transitions counseling and therapy services that can help you not only navigate major life transitions, but also make the most of change, including:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and IFS Therapy to help you look at and understand the thoughts, feelings, and parts of you that are leading to anxiety and stress, as well as help you transform the way you think about and react to change;
- Mindfulness Therapy techniques to help you slow down and improve your sense of awareness, so you can focus on how you feel and what you want to change;
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help you quickly cope with, work through, and resolve any anxiety or fear; and
- Somatic Therapy techniques to help you acknowledge and understand the thoughts, feelings, and beliefs you’ve picked up over the course of your life that are no longer serving your best interests – that have, in fact, been keeping you from making the changes you want and need – so you can start consciously transforming your life.
Are You Ready to Not Only Cope with Change, but Also Create the Change You Desire and Deserve?
Any change can lead to anxiety and fear – whether the change is small or large, a conscious choice or something caused by circumstances outside of our control – and I know how difficult it can be to think clearly and make sound decisions when we’re experiencing anxiety and stress.
I also know what it’s like to wake up in the morning and wonder, “What happened to me?” and “Where can I possibly go from here?!?”
I’ve been there.
But we always have a choice …
You can keep struggling, trying to push through and do it all on your own, alone, or you can ask for and get the help you need and deserve.
Remember, as difficult as major life transitions can be, they’re also an incredible opportunity to heal and grow. You just need to be willing to ask the right questions, explore who you are, and better understand your Self.
I’m here to provide the non-judgmental space you need and help guide you as you figure out the right questions to ask, search for your own answers, and learn to let go of the beliefs and behaviors that have kept you from living life to its fullest, so you can intentionally create the change you desire and deserve and truly transform your life!
